UPCOMING BATHROOM PROJECTS

Over the past few weeks we have been finishing up our daughter's new closet and throwing around a few ideas on what to do with our master ensuite. The main fixtures are all perfect, but we just need to add a few updates to finish off the space. How our bathroom looks today:

Overall we were happy with how our bathroom turned out. I love the custom cabinets and Kohler wading pool sinks. My husband sourced out the sinks and they are perfect. I wanted to go with sconces on either side of the mirror instead of a typical bathroom light fixture above the mirror for the softer lighting. Because of the larger size of the room our electrician suggested we install a ceiling fixture as well. We spent many weeks looking at fixtures and couldn't find anything we liked so selected a standard builder grade light fixture knowing we will be changing it out in the future. We requested 2 tall skinny mirrors to go above each sink, and they installed them flush with the counter. We had wanted them to be installed higher and unfortunately they are not able to be moved.

We chose a free standing tub and had the plumbers install it far enough from the wall to allow for curtains to be installed eventually. The floor is a wood grain ceramic tile.

In the shower we went with white subway tile (our favourite!) and had selected a darker grey grout to go with the granite used on the sil. We have always done white grout with the white tile so it was something new to us.

Now the plan!

My Pinspiration

I pinned this picture awhile ago and loved the look of the wainscoting. My husband brought the picture to me after he found it on houzz and said he wants to incorporate something like this into our ensuite. We decided to wainscot the wall behind the tub in this pattern and 3/4 of the way up the wall in the water closet.

Then we were deciding what to do with the mirrors (they have to go) and the top 1/3 of the wall in the water closet. I ran downstairs and pulled out this wallpaper I ordered online last year. I was intending to use it in the main floor powder room but change of plans! We are going to remove the mirrors and wallpaper the wall behind the mirrors and the top 1/3 of the wall in the water closet.

The new mirrors

I sourced out the new mirrors from Bouclair. I had bought 2 mirrors (just like the one pictured) for our bedroom from Homesense and was hoping to find them in a larger size for above the sinks but haven't found them yet. These frameless mirrors are a large enough and will have a more custom look than the current mirrors.

All we have left to source out is the light fixture and curtains. I have a few in mind and after we decided what we are doing with our bedroom re-design I will know what to order. I can't wait to get this new project started!
